Steve Turner Honored with Hiram Award
We are pleased to announce that Steve Turner received a Hiram Award on August 19, 2017. This special presentation took place at our Lodges’ Backyard Brotherhood picnic hosted by PGM Terry Tilton in Hibbing, MN. The Masonic Hiram Award is the highest honor that we present. This once-in-a-lifetime award recognizes a Master Mason who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in his service and commitment to his Lodge.
It is difficult to fully summarize Steve’s active involvement in our Lodge as the list is nearly endless. After he completed One Day to Masonry on 1/16/2010, he took an office in the progressive line. He was Mason of the Year in Eveleth in both 2011 and 2013. He served as Worshipful Master in 2014 and 2015. He received the Wayfaring Man Award in 2016 at our Annual Communication. For 2016, he accepted the District Representatives’ opening in District 4, a post he held for one year. Also during this time, he learned nearly all of the lectures, including the staircase lecture. He is often asked to help in other area Lodges' degree work.
Steve was Pasty Chairman, which has considerable obligation in our Lodge. He spearheaded every bake, from organizing the calendar, training people on equipment, ordering ingredients, and working usually 3 full days in the kitchen or baking room for each bake. He has been doing this for over a dozen groups annually. He easily gave up 40 full days per year in the last 6 to 7 years to help with the bakes. He has been the co-chair of the KIDS ID program for the last several years, and he delivers and picks up computers where needed in the Northeast district He co-chairs the Building Committee for our Lodge as well. Steve is in the office at the Lodge at 6:00am nearly every Saturday or Sunday (sometimes both) to assist with mailings, cleaning, or building and equipment repairs, and to practice for any upcoming degree work.
We all know that we could not have given this award to a more deserving Brother from Eveleth Lodge.
