Remembering Paul Henry Saranen

Paul Henry Saranen
Paul Henry Saranen was born April 28, 1927 in Virginia. He graduated from Virginia High School and the Virginia Junior College. He served in the US Navy during WWII, serving on the USS Reeves as a Fireman 1st Class. He worked briefly on ore boats on all 5 of the Great Lakes. He later worked for the Oliver Mining Co., US Steel, and Minntac as a metal fabricator and blacksmith. He was an animated storyteller and shared many of his life’s experiences.
On November 19, 1981, at 54 years of age, Paul was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. He was an active, life paid member of Virginia Lodge #264, and he served as their Worshipful Master in 1996 and 2005. Paul was a Past High Priest of Royal Arch Chapter #77, a life member of Keystone Chapter #20 Royal Arch Masons, Duluth Commandery #18, and the range Shrine Patrol. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #264 until Virginia merged with Eveleth in October of 2015. Paul received a Hiram Award from Virginia lodge in 1998. Paul died August 3, 2018 and was a 38-year member. He is survived by 3 children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
