Remembering William Irving Hill
In Remembrance of our Brothers who have ascended to the Celestial Lodge in this past year:
William Irving Hill
William Irving Hill was born May 6, 1920. He graduated from Eveleth High School in 1938 and attended Eveleth Junior College. He went on to be a licensed electrician. On December 8, 1973, at age 53, Bill was raised to the sublime degree of a Master Mason. Bill enjoyed a 40-year career at US Steel Electrical Department, retiring in 1981. Bill was an active mason for many years, helping in degree work, and he was known for his electrical expertise in our Lodge. He served as Worshipful Master in 1979 and afterwards served as our Lodge Treasurer. Bill was a shrewd investor and did well for our Lodge’s investments.
Bill was awarded the Hiram Award in 1993. At that time, it was only the 2nd Hiram Award ever given to a Brother in our Lodge. Bill was given a Mason of the Year award in 2000, and he also became a member of the Versaba Shrine Club. It was last year that Bill received his 45 Year pin award and celebrated his 98th birthday with all of us. We had a special cake made to honor him that night. Bill died at his home on December 31, 2018, at age 98. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
